Food

The corps provides lunches during rehearsals for this weekend. All other meals are on your own. Our hotel is located across the street from a grocery store and within walking distance of several restaurants (see below). Our schedule is tight for several meals so you should plan ahead. In particular you should plan for:

  • Breakfast each morning (the buses will leave promptly at 8)
  • Sunday evening you will have limited time to prepare for the Finals show. In addition, those of you who are riding the bus will no longer have access to your hotel room and therefore will be using the rooms of those staying which means more people changing/showering in each room.
  • Sunday after the show people are often hungry. You should plan to purchase your bus snacks ahead of time as there are limited food options when the buses leave the stadium.

Le Sueur Show & Red Wing Parade

By |

Drum Corps Luau

Le Sueur Henderson High School
901 Ferry St
Le Sueur, MN 56058

Give yourself enough time to travel safely to Le Sueur. This is a new show this year and our first “read” from DCA Judges this season.

9:00am – Field lining (two fields)

10:00am – Rehearsal
12:00pm – Lunch
1:00pm – Rehearsal
3:00pm – Shower, dinner on your own, get ready to perform
5:00pm – Warm-up
6:30pm – Gate
6:39pm – Perform
7:00pm – Full corps retreat – this is similar to what we’ll do at DCA Finals with some exceptions noted. Immediately following our performance we’ll line up on the track near the end-zone instead of exiting the stadium. Front Ensemble and equipment will exit the stadium per normal; change out of uniform, load the attic, and stage the rest of their equipment until the battery loads. The rest of the corps will line up single file (colorguard, hornline, battery) and enter the field at the back into a designated 10 yard zone.

This will be quick as there are only 3 competing units. Minnesota Brass will salute/attention when our name/score is announced. Afterwards feel free to say hello to our fellow competitors as everyone exits the field casually. Battery should immediately load equipment, then change out of uniform so the front ensemble can finish loading. Everyone else can change first then load per normal.

Travel safely!

Red Wing Parade

There is one bus heading down to Red Wing from Cottage Grove. It only holds 50 people – unless you want to squeeze a cheek and go 3 to a seat. The 50 people on this poll have dibs, others will have to carpool.

South Washington County Schools District Office
7362 E Point Douglas Rd.
Cottage Grove, MN 55016

11:00am – Depart Cottage Grove

There is very little parking at the staging area. Those who are driving will have to find parking and walk to the staging area. The trucks will likely be parked somewhere near Central Park where the standstill is at the end of the parade.

410 Bush Street
Red Wing, MN 55066

We are unit #48, staging on 6th street between East Ave. & Bush St.

12:00pm – Arrive at Red Wing, unload, get into uniform
12:45pm – Warm-up
1:00pm – Parade starts
~1:30pm – Step off
~2:45pm – Standstill at Central Park
3:15pm – Load
4:00pm – Depart Red Wing for Cottage Grove
5:00pm – Arrive at Cottage Grove

March On! Show Day – Farmington, MN

By |

Big thanks to Becci O’Kane in the color guard for not only getting us a more southerly rehearsal site, but giving us an opportunity to connect with Park High School marching band members! (She teaches there.)

There are a few ground rules for both members and staff we need to observe:

  1. The Athletics department will be painting two fields for us with high school hashes, but we cannot add tick marks or any additional markings. This hopefully makes prep and the time required before rehearsal a little easier.
  2. Rehearsal requires shirt and shorts at all times. Tank tops are ok, bikini bottoms are not.

Park High School
8040 80th St S
Cottage Grove, MN 55016

12:00pm – Rehearsal
~2:30pm – Fruit break
3:00pm – Stadium available
4:00pm – Park HS band members enter stadium to watch some ensemble and our run.
4:30pm – Load, shower, eat, travel to show site

Travel to Farmington High School is approximately 45 minutes whether you go north and briefly on 494 to 35E or if you go south to Hastings and west on Vermillion/160th. Options are limited because the Mississippi is in the way. I recommend going south through Hastings as it is likely to be much more predictable traffic-wise.

Farmington High School
20655 Flagstaff Ave
Farmington, MN 55024

7:15pm – Unload percussion trailer (front ensemble)
7:30pm – Unload uniform trailer
8:00pm – Warm Up begins
9:15pm – Gate
9:22pm – Perform!
