Seeking Applicants for Director & Assistant

By | Drum & Bugle Corps | No Comments

Similar to our call for volunteers to make the 2024 season (and beyond) a success, Minnesota Brass is seeking extra help for the duties of Drum & Bugle Corps director. The current Executive and Ensemble directors Chris Judd and Justin Foell will be involved in 2024. But we want to add depth to our roster and start thinking about a succession plan for future seasons. Both will be involved and supporting the expansion of responsibilities to the next generation of Minnesota Brass leadership.

Call for Volunteers

By | Drum & Bugle Corps | No Comments

With the announcement of the combined DCI/DCA finals for the coming years, Minnesota Brass intends to take the competitive field at Lucas Oil Stadium. The last few SoundSport years have been great for member engagement, but we’ve run a skeleton crew. Many people did too many jobs: Transportation & Electronics, Executive Director & Front Ensemble Tech, Director & Prop Specialist. To maximize both member experience and competitive success for 2024, we need to rebuild the foundation of our organization: volunteers.

Pageantry in the Plaza

By | Drum & Bugle Corps | No Comments

Minnesota Brass and River City Rhythm, in conjunction with Green Minneapolis, present Pageantry in the Plaza on Saturday, July 22nd at 4pm at Peavey Plaza. The free event also features a combined performance with Minnesota Orchestra trumpeter Chuck Lazarus.

Peavey Plaza, located adjacent to Orchestra Hall, opened in 1975 and is now in the National Register of Historic Places. As a public place along Nicollet Avenue, the plaza has become Downtown Minneapolis’ living room.

To reach a new audience and help fill a schedule gap between nearby drum corps shows, we contacted Green Minneapolis to host a free concert at Peavey Plaza. Bo Hoover of River City Rhythm recognized the opportunity to coordinate with the Minnesota Orchestra who is playing Stravinsky’s Firebird that night. He reached out to Chuck Lazarus from the trumpet section to put together a shared performance opportunity that you won’t want to miss!

The performance will feature:

  • Minnesota Brass and their 2023 production: Speakeasy
  • River City Rhythm and their 2023 production: Falling
  • Chuck Lazarus in a combined performance with RCR & MBI

Hopefully we’ll see you in the plaza – Saturday, July 22nd at 4pm!
